What Is It ?

* The finished film must be:

16:9 or letterbox format, landscape not portrait
-
From 4 to 8 minutes in screen time

Presented in 25fps, digital 2k or 4k (.mp4 or .mov), or actual film (16mm or above)

Stereo soundtrack

If selected for cinema / theatrical screening, then you will need to provide your film in DCP format
* Your team must consist of 3 to 6 individuals plus a composer. These can be assigned a single role, or they can perform multiple roles in front of the lens and behind. It is up to you. Roles can also include people to help with social media for the purposes of cast & crew calls, BTS stills​
* We can help with locating a composer, and happy to post up to 1 cast & 1 crew calls on our social media, provided we can easily copy or share from your own social media
* Your team must each be registered at the time of your team's registration
* You can shoot your film anywhere in the world, and screen it anywhere in the world after our competition has finished. Your film will be automatically rejected if it has been screened anywhere else before the awards ceremony on 26th January 2026
* Your film has not used any stock footage
* Your film has not used any stock production music or licensed music. Music must be original.
* Stock sound design is permitted and is a useful way to enhance the audience's experience
* We do not provided grants or funding for you to complete your production
* Awards and prizes are made at the discretion of Chichester FilmMaker's
* You and you team accept that Chichester FilmMakers can post clips and BTS stills of your production on our 48 Hour Film Challenge website and posts on social media from time to time
* You or your production company will continue to own all rights to your film
* You accept that all development, pre-production, production, post-production activities are your responsibility. We are not able to assist in any way.
* You accept that you are responsible for all insurance, health & safety, risk assessment & management activities relating to your team and your production.
* Staff and full-time volunteers from Chichester FilmMakers are not permitted to take part in this competition with regards to film production
* The competition shall start at 6pm on a Friday and finish at exactly 6pm on the Sunday (48 hours later). Any late submissions will be automatically rejected (sorry!!).
